About the host organization
daphne is a non-profit Indigenous artist-run centre committed to serving the needs of emerging, mid-career, and established Indigenous artists through exhibitions and associated programming, workshops, residencies and curatorial initiatives. daphne encourages a culture of peace through critical, respectful exchange with our Indigenous and non-Indigenous peers and audiences.
Responsibilities
The intern will be tasked to work alongside daphne's communications and community outreach staff with event support and planning 2 events in November 2026, daphne's 7th birthday and Naabidoo'igan, their 4th market and fundraiser. We are happy to adjust the role to fit the interests and strengths of the candidate (such as communications, social media, event planning, logistics, etc.)
Assets and requirements
- You must be a Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program through the fall 2026 term.
- Students who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis will be prioritized for this role. Students not identifying as Indigenous in Canada should have a good understanding of Indigenous realities and allyship.
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Languages:
- English level – professional working proficiency (C1)
- French level – at least limited working proficiency (B1-B2), native level an asset
- Ability to speak Indigenous languages an asset
- Event planning experience an asset
Duration
September 8, 2026 - November 27, 2026 (12 weeks)
These dates could be negotiated between the intern and the host organization. Internships might be renewed for up to 3 terms if that is of interest to both the student and the host.

Working style
Independence: This role offers a balance of independent work and guidance. Students will have opportunities to take ownership of their work while receiving support as they build confidence, develop new skills, and contribute to the organization's work.
Support: You can expect regular check-ins, ongoing feedback, and readily available support from your supervisor.
Hours
180 hours total, 15 hours a week
Remuneration
$3,750
