About the host organization
Tinakiwin is a new non-profit organisation (transitioning from the Anishnabe Moose Studies). The Anishnabe Moose Studies previously worked towards protecting the moose in La Verendrye Wildlife Park. The transition moves the project towards a continuous advocacy group that will focus on the 3 pillars on more Research, Education and Training to build jobs on the territory.
Responsibilities
- With guidance from the director, creating administrative structures for the organizational transition, such as setting up emails for the board of directors
- Supporting the organization of a launch day event
- Creating a list donors list, donation links to be shared virtually or on our website
- Depending on the student's skillsets and interests, assist with communications or writing, such as :
- Creation of a social media channels
- Designing a new website
- Supporting the director in writing proposals for 2026
- Supporting the writing of website copy
Assets and requirements
- You must be a Concordia student enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program through the fall 2026 term.
- Students who self-identify as First Nations, Inuit or Métis will be prioritized for this role. Students not identifying as Indigenous in Canada should have a good understanding of Indigenous realities and allyship.
- Excellent computer skills
- Organizational skills
- Strong communication skills
- Assets include experiences in:
- Website building
- Building new platforms for social media
- Proposal writing
- Building awareness campaigns
Duration
September 8, 2026 - November 27, 2026 (12 weeks)
These dates could be negotiated between the intern and the host organization. Internships might be renewed for up to 3 terms if that is of interest to both the student and the host.
Location/site of employment
Site of work: Online
Address(es): Students could have a space to work at the Research for the Frontlines office space in Montreal.
Note: Interns are also invited to come work at SHIFT's co-working space (LB-145) between 10-4 throughout the work week.
Working style
Independence: This role is well suited to students who enjoy taking initiative and learning through hands-on experience. Students will have the opportunity to independently manage projects and contribute meaningfully to the organization's work.
Support: You'll have access to guidance and feedback throughout the internship, with support available when questions or challenges arise.
Hours
180 hours total, 15 hours a week
Remuneration
$3,750
