This is an introductory workshop for students in all disciplines who wish to better understand and include Indigenous perspectives in their research. The workshop will briefly situate the university library within settler colonialism in Canada, provide context to current research on Indigenous topics and include discussions around the limits of terminology and subject classification. The instructors will guide students to recommended resources for Indigenous topics and provide an overview of research ethics guidelines. Learning Objectives: Gain an understanding of the colonial context of libraries. Understand the limits and challenges of terminology. Discover current resources relevant to Indigenous topics across disciplines Identify different ethical guidelines regarding Indigenous research in Canada.
