Annick Maugile Flavien:
My inspiration

An older woman sits by the window gazing off into the distance. Facing her is a photo of her younger self on her wedding day, also gazing out the window in the photo. "Window of Time." Mme Maugile sits by the window gazing off into the distance. This photo is part of a photo essay by Annick Maugile Flavien entitled 'A Life Still Giving'.

What can we learn from how Black Canadian communities have adapted their caregiving practices in supporting the empowered ageing of their elders as we consider the ageing agency of all elders in Canada?

My experience is rooted in caregiving for my mother, but the inspiration for my research is all those who have asked me: “how do you do it?” I used to brush off this question with a smile for the compliment but now realize that this ‘how’ is a meaningful question.
