Louis Lazure: My inspiration

“Trash pandas” have a long history with humans.

Biology: How does animal behaviour modulate human-wildlife interactions and their management?

My area of specialization is animal behaviour, and I have been delighted to work with wildlife in different ecosystems around the world. I have also been delighted to discover that the fauna found in Quebec is as diverse and fascinating as anywhere else. Our relationship to familiar mammals like bats and raccoons is a dialogue: they shape us as much as we shape them. By studying how these animals react and deal with the challenges and opportunities brought up by humans, we can inform local and provincial policy to ensure better protections and protocols for wildlife.
