Graduate student ambassador
Our graduate student ambassadors support prospective students from across Canada and around the world to make informed choices about their future graduate studies. Participating in a variety of activities as a Graduate Ambassador, you will represent Concordia University and your program through different university recruitment initiatives. You will serve as a face of the university for prospective students, applicants, and newly admitted students, providing honest insights and answering questions about your program, campus life, and what it’s like to live and study in Montreal.

Primary responsibilities
- Represent graduate studies at Concordia University through virtual and in person events, online chat and email inquiries.
- Engage with students by maintaining friendly, ongoing conversations, answering their questions based on your own university experience, and sharing insights through various communication channels.
- Regularly monitor your ambassador accounts and respond to questions in a timely manner.
- Host peer-to-peer graduate studies information sessions and Q&As, and participate in graduate student panels.
- Share insights and outreach recommendations based on familiarity with specific regions, countries, or academic programs, including effective ways to connect with prospective students.
- Attend and support recruitment events, including Open House and Virtual Info Day, which may occasionally occur outside regular office hours.
- Demonstrate good judgment and a professional, solution-oriented approach, particularly when dealing with difficult or challenging questions.
- Attend training sessions and weekly meetings (at least one training per term).
- Lead and contribute to program-specific recruitment activities, including research showcases, program information sessions, and 4TH SPACE panels.
- Represent the university at on-campus recruitment pop-up events by staffing information booths, engaging with undergraduate students, and answering questions about graduate studies and campus life.
Requirements
- Be a graduate student in good standing who has completed at least 1 term of study (preferably at least 1 year)
- Engaging and enthusiastic, able to connect well with others and identify their needs
- Confident communicator who enjoys producing engaging content about the University
- Comfortable with data management and social media
- Open to learning about themselves and others
- Reliable and responsible, able to balance the demands of an academic workload with the requirements of being a student ambassador
- Bilingual in English and French a strong asset
Ambassadors will spend on average 2-3 hours per week leading or supporting different recruitment activities. They will also be required to work extended hours twice a year at Concordia’s Open House and assist with other School of Graduate Studies activities. Each ambassador will work approximately 30-35 hours per term.
Pay: $25/hour.
