Public speaking is a core communication skill and more importantly, one that is learnable. A strong technical foundation serves as a communication roadmap that will empower you to develop and refine the essential techniques that drive effective, impactful speaking. Together, we will explore the building blocks of effective speaking including content development, organization, structure, flow, voice projection, articulation, pacing, pausing, body language, gesture, facial expression, and eye contact.

In a supportive environment and through practical exercises, peer feedback, and performance activities, you will gain hands-on experience that will enhance your public speaking in everyday conversations, classrooms, meetings, presentations, and community events.

You will learn to:

  • Identify and apply standard speech frameworks to organize and present ideas clearly.
  • Adapt tone and delivery style based on the audience and speaking context.
  • Articulate clearly and use deliberate pacing and pauses to improve understanding and emphasis.
  • Maintain professional posture, eye contact, and gesture to support credibility and connection.
  • Project your voice with clarity and volume appropriate for various speaking environments.
  • Match vocal tone and body language to content and context for coherent and authentic delivery.
  • Use timing and transitions effectively to maintain flow and audience attention.
  • Use notes or prompts effectively without losing engagement or sounding scripted.
  • Evaluate your speaking style and apply peer feedback to improve future delivery.
