Undergraduate programs

With four undergraduate options, our students start with a common core curriculum. Some then specialize in Athletic Therapy or Kinesiology or Clinical Exercise Physiology. Students have opportunities to conduct research supervised by our professors, and gain remarkable hands-on training through extensive lab work and internships.

Fields of study

Exercise Science (BSc)

Our Major program serves as a gateway to various health professions, providing a solid foundation for further studies. You learn to assess, evaluate and design programs that can maintain and improve health, fitness and athletic performance.

Available as a Major (45 credits) or Honours (60 credits)

Athletic Therapy (BScAT)

Pursue a career devoted to the health care of active individuals through to high-performance athletes. Through course and lab-work, you will gain knowledge of musculoskeletal and postural evaluation, equipment fitting and selection, prophylactic and supportive taping and wrapping, injury assessment, basic and advanced emergency life support and first aid. Athletic Therapy students also complete 9 credits of internships in the field and clinical settings.

Our Athletic Therapy program is unique to Montreal, accredited by the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association and our BSc graduates benefit from an exceptionally high success rate in certification exams.

Available as a specialization (96 credits) or honours (102 credits).

Kinesiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology (BSc)

Through course and lab-work, you will develop the knowledge and skills to address the physical activity needs of special populations, especially those with disabilities or chronic disease conditions. You will learn how to adapt traditional exercise forms, fitness assessment techniques and training protocols to meet the needs of people with physical and sensory impairments. Kinesiology students also complete 9 credits of internshipsin the field and clinical settings. Graduates are prepared for a clinical career, post-graduate studies or medical school.

Available as a major (69 credits) or honours (78 credits).

Internships

Students who choose the Kinesiology and Clinical Exercise Physiology and Athletic Therapy options complete internships as part of their program requirements. These placements may be in the field (such as a school, a sports organization or varsity team) or a clinical setting; many students complete an internship at Concordia's School of Health
