NAFTA PANEL DISCUSSION
Our goal
To help us fund a (North American Free Trade Agreement) NAFTA panel discussion as part of our course curriculum, which would allow the Concordia community to participate and gain more knowledge on a topic that is at the centre of much current media and political discussion.

Our Project
We are a group of students from Concordia's School of Community and Public Affairs. As part of our Social Debates and Issues in Public Affairs and Public Policy course curriculum, we have the opportunity to set up a panel on our chosen subject: Canada – United States relations, specifically discussing the NAFTA negotiations.
The event, titled “Negotiating All For Trump's America: Make NAFTA Great Again,” will welcome four distinguished panellists:
- Thomas Mulcair, former leader of the NDP from 2002 to 2017;
- Michel Vincent, Director of Economics and Markets at the Quebec Forest Industry Council;
- Ian Lee, Professor at Carleton University in the Sprott School of Business;
- Monique Simard, Chief executive officer at SODEC - Société de Développement des Entreprises Culturelles
The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Daniel Salée, PhD, Professor in the School of Community and Public Affairs.
We also plan to invite faculty from Concordia’s departments of Economics and Political Science to attend the event.
We believe that this panel would be beneficial to all Concordia students and Montrealers because it is currently a much-discussed media and political topic. It will allow the public to participate and understand more about this complex and important subject.
Our team also believes it is vital to represent Concordia positively and uphold its strong reputation.

Why we need your help
The event will be held March 6, 2018, and we expect about 100 people to attend. We will do our best to make it a sustainable event by using reusable dishes through Sustainable Concordia’s Dish Project and by opting for environmentally safe options.
With your funding, we would be able to ensure the present a great event by inviting insightful panellists and securing the proper preparation of our panel. Activities such as this not only enrich student life but also bring knowledge and awareness of current events to the Concordia community as a whole.
Help us make the grade and bring our panel to life
