Special Projects at the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI)

While CIADI programs generally focus on aviation and aircraft, it has also started a special projects initiative to support rocketry design, development and construction.

We are that team!

Our mission is to ensure Concordia launches rockets regularly — every year if possible — and to maintain a group of certified individuals who can sustain Concordia's presence in rocketry research and competition.

Our hopes for 2023

We’re currently working on a supersonic rocket that can carry a payload of scientific experiments and other research projects to test at high altitudes and high forces of acceleration (high-g). These projects come from our Concordian peers.

With your help, we seek to participate in  competitions such as Launch Canada and the Spaceport America Cup.

If we launch our rocket in 2023, it will be the second time a Concordia team has launched a rocket of this size.

Your gift will help us purchase project materials, including aluminum, fasteners, composites and parachutes. It will allow students to participate in this year’s competitions by helping us pay for travel and registration costs.

These expenses can be burdensome for students, and become a particularly unfair barrier some. Please give generously today!

About CIADI

When it was established 20 years ago, the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI) was the first institute of its kind in Quebec. Today, it continues to support aerospace research and training for students, researchers and industry.

In particular, CIADI has emphasized programming for undergraduate students, offering experiential learning opportunities, a competitive educational edge, and invaluable preparation for work in the aerospace industry. Your support will help maintain Concordia’s proud tradition of giving students a real-world, hands-on learning experience.
