Transphobia Subcommittee

The subcommittee is tasked with

  • Examining existing campus policies and processes to establish Concordia as a safe and inclusive space for transgender, non-binary and gender-nonconforming community members to flourish. 
  • Researching trainings on transphobia, protocols, and best practices to address gender-based discrimination from other Canadian universities and institutions.
  • Examining systems in place for complaints and evaluating the transgender, non-binary and gender-nonconforming community members' access to university services.
  • Consulting with Concordia and Montreal communities to recommend measures tailored to the needs and concerns of transgender, non-binary and gender-nonconforming students, faculty, and staff, including attending relevant discussions organized by the Campus Engagement subcommittee.

Call for participation

Assessment of the Experiences and Perceptions of Transgender and Non-binary Staff and Faculty

This survey is only intended for staff and faculty of Concordia University.

The purpose of this study is to examine the experience of transgender and non-binary experiences of staff and faculty and the perceptions of transgender and non-binary colleagues at Concordia University. The study is designed to assess the perceptions and beliefs of gender diverse staff and faculty, as well as the work environment, services, and experiences of Concordia’s transgender and non-binary staff and faculty.

For the purposes of this survey, we are defining transphobia as: Negative attitudes, feelings, or actions toward transgender and non-binary people or gender nonconformity in general. This can include hate speech, violence, microaggressions, exclusion, and hostility
