Applied Science Hub

Advancing groundbreaking discovery and enterprise

The Applied Science Hub: where Concordia’s scientists, engineers and entrepreneurs innovate to accelerate next-generation research.

A space for interdisciplinary collaboration

The Applied Science Hub is strategically designed to physically connect researchers and encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. It houses laboratories and research spaces supporting fields such as agriculture, health and sustainable development.

This state-of-the-art infrastructure enables Concordia to attract top graduate and postdoctoral talent and advance scientific exploration.

A space to help solve real problems facing our communities

Expanding on the Richard J. Renaud Science Complex, the science hub is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certified and consists of four storeys plus a mechanical level and two basements. The new facilities will house state-of-the-art laboratories and research spaces. Key highlights of the facility include:
  • Onsite research including aquatic biology, microscopy, cellular imaging, nanoscience, bioprocessing, and chemical and materials engineering.
  • Hosting Concordia’s District 3 Innovation Hub, a start-up incubator, promoting industry scale-up and partnership opportunities on-site.
  • Growing smartly by adding capacity where our strengths and enrolment demands intersect
  • Providing a next-generation education that’s connected, transformative and fit for the times
  • Improving the existing biomass of the Loyola Campus

The Applied Science Hub is a true collective achievement.
