Booking equipment

Graduate students and faculty members in the Department of Education have access to a variety of technological equipment for your coursework and research needs.

  • Determine your needs and complete the booking form.
  • You must indicate when you’ll be picking up the equipment, and the class associated with the project or research*.
  • You’ll receive an email confirming your booking.

*All booking forms must indicate a course and a professor.  Incomplete forms will not be processed.

We require a minimum notice of 2 working days to process your request. If you are not certain as to what you need, make an appointment at education.support@concordia.ca to discuss your project prior to booking your equipment.

Laptops must be returned the same day. The other equipment cannot be booked for more than 1 week. Depending on your course assignment, your professor may have pre-arranged a different duration with the Technical Office. Booking extensions are based upon availability and granted on a case by case basis.

Virtually all resources are provided with the original instruction manual. You may have received some training from your professor or the TA. You can also make an appointment with the Tech Office for quick tutorials or advice.

  • Tech Office in FG-5.310
  • You must arrive at the time you specified in your request.
  • Prior to the loan, review what you’re borrowing and sign the lending sheet.
  • When you return the equipment, allow 5 minutes for us to review that the equipment is returned in proper order. Do not leave the equipment unattended in the Tech Office. You are responsible for it until we sign it in.

Depending on your course, it may have been discussed in class. It is best to contact us for your individual needs, but generally speaking, you’ll need a Digital Video Camera. If you’re recording sound, you’ll want to choose a microphone that’s appropriate for the shooting conditions, and for the final product. If you’re recording sound from two microphones, you’ll need to book the Canon XA-10. Finally, if you want to control lighting while you’re recording, you’ll need a lighting kit.

  • You are responsible for the equipment. If the equipment can be repaired you will be responsible for the cost of the repair. If it cannot be repaired you will be responsible for the cost to replace it.
  • Lost equipment must be replaced.
  • If the equipment is stolen you must file a police report and provide us with a copy, and you are responsible to replace it.
