We are accepting nominations for the 2026 Alumni Recognition Awards until January 16, 2026.

1. Review the award categories

Read the award descriptions and select the one that you deem most pertinent to person you are nominating.

You may choose at most 2 categories and the nomination committee can, at its discretion, move nominees from one award category to the next. 

Categories for alumni

Humberto Santos Award of Merit and Service

This most prestigious honour is awarded to a graduate who has made a lifetime contribution (15+ years) of exceptional leadership and service to the university and/or the association.

John F. Lemieux Young Alumna/Alumnus Medal

Awarded to a recent graduate (from the last 10 years) whose trailblazing spirit and next-generation approach in the pursuit of excellence challenges current-day boundaries in their field.

Benoît Pelland Alumna/Alumnus of the Year

Awarded to a graduate who has demonstrated professional excellence, community leadership and a long-term commitment of outstanding service in their field.

International Excellence Award

Awarded to a graduate (or community of graduates) outside Canada who has enhanced the reputation and prestige of the alumni association or university through exceptional leadership and outstanding volunteer service in the alumni community or their local community.

MBA Alumna/Alumnus of the Year

Awarded to an MBA or Executive MBA graduate who has demonstrated outstanding professional achievement and dedication to both their community and the university.

Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award

Awarded to a graduate or student who demonstrates leadership, exemplifies excellence and promotes justice, equity, diversity and inclusion through community service or student activities.

Categories for students

Outstanding Student Leader Award

Awarded to a Concordia student leader who is an outstanding contributor to student life and the university community.

Students can also be nominated for the Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Award.

Categories for faculty or staff

Outstanding Staff and Faculty Award

Awarded to either a faculty or staff member who embraces innovation in their work and/or field of practice through the sharing of knowledge, teaching ability, and/or their contribution to their team, department or university community.

Honorary Life Membership

Awarded to a non-graduate ambassador with a long-term commitment of outstanding service to the alumni association and/or the university. 

2. Prepare the nomination details

For each submission, you will be asked to provide:  

  • Full name degree and contact details of nominee
  • Full name and contact details of nominator
  • A nomination letter
    In 200 words (2500 characters maximum), describe how the nominee's experience corresponds to the criteria.
  • A nomination summary
    In 25 words or less, how is this nominee best described.
  • Optional web links (LinkedIn, articles, social media)

3. To note before you submit

  • The nominator and nominee cannot be the same person.
  • Nominations must be fully completed to be considered. Incomplete nominations will be discarded.
  • Web links may be provided to enhance a nomination. However, nominations based solely on web links will not be considered.
  • Nominations are considered for the year in which they are submitted. Nominees that are not selected, may be reconsidered the following year at the discretion of the Concordia University Alumni Association's Alumni Recognition Awards Committee.
