Zero Waste Event Services

Want to reduce waste and support Concordia in achieving its zero-waste goals? By choosing to use reusable dishware and event items from the Dish Project, you'll become part of the solution!

About the Dish Project

The Dish Project is back — and better than ever. Originally founded under Sustainable Concordia, the program is now housed in the Office of Sustainability. This legacy continues to grow, expanding to include even more tools for waste-free events.

Booking is now open! Dishware rentals for events are available starting September 8, 2026.

How it works

Browse and select bundles grouped for events or individual reusable items, including plates, cups, cutlery, serving ware and more, through our Zero Waste Event Services online booking system

Pick up your order from Hall Building, 7th floor, room 734 (H-734). Your order will be packed and ready at the date and time selected during booking. If you need to change your pickup time, send us an email.

Pay the balance* in person by card or request the information needed to pay by journal transfer. Events held off campus will need to pay a $200 deposit.

* ASFA, FASA, and GSA student events on campus receive 100% off the rental fee.

Events that complete the Sustainable Event Certification receive 100% off the rental fee.

Enjoy your event using reusable dishware. Before returning your order, scrape any leftover food into the appropriate waste or compost bins and repack all items.

Return the complete order to the Dish Project room at the drop-off time selected during booking.

We’ll wash, count, and inspect the items before returning them to our inventory, ready for the next event.

Once your order has been returned and checked, your $200 deposit will be refunded, provided all items are returned in good condition.

Making the Dish Project Accessible

The Dish Project uses a flexible cost-recovery model to keep reusable dishware accessible while supporting the service. We have aligned our pricing as closely to the cost of a disposable compostable dishware item, grouping items to keep the prices affordable.

Are you hosting an event associated with FASA, ASFA or the GSA? Make sure to note it in your booking and your rental fees may be covered.

Need help with the cost? We want the Dish Project to be accessible to everyone. If your event cannot afford the applicable rental fee, email dishproject@concordia.ca. We’re happy to work with individual events on a case-by-case basis to find an arrangement that works.

Off-campus events are also available at applicable rates a deposit may apply. Every rental helps keep the service running—covering washing, maintenance, replacement of lost or damaged items, and the continued expansion of reuse initiatives at Concordia.
