Zero waste event services
Want to reduce waste and support Concordia in achieving its zero-waste goals? By choosing to use reusable dishware and event items from the Dish Project, you'll become part of the solution!
About the Dish Project
The Dish Project is back — and better than ever. Originally founded under Sustainable Concordia, the program is now housed in the Office of Sustainability. This legacy continues to grow, expanding to include even more tools for waste-free events.
Making services accessible to everyone
The Dish Project operates on a pay-what-you-can-model, ensuring access for all. While there is no set fee for on-campus events, donations are strongly encouraged. Off-campus events can also be arranged, but they require a donation.
Every contribution goes directly toward keeping the service running, maintaining inventory and supporting waste-reduction initiatives across campus.
How it works
Fill out the Zero Waste Event Services form with event details.
Select dishware (plates, cups, cutlery, serving ware and more) through the online booking system.
Pick up and return items at the scheduled times.
Make a donation — big or small — to sustain this service for the Concordia community.
What's available
The Dish Project provides more than reusable dishes! The inventory and services include:
plates, bowls, cups, wine glasses, cutlery, pitchers, trays, coffee urns and more (photos available in the booking system)
nametags (pinback or with lanyards)
reusable decorations and signage (wayfinding, waste sorting, etc.)
surplus food donation containers for local shelters
consultations on how to make your events zero waste
guidance on getting your event certified through our Sustainable Event Guide
Why donate?
The Concordia University Centre for Creative Reuse and the Office of Sustainability are committed to offering this service at low cost so that every event can be waste-free. Donations cover cleaning, repairs, replacements and program growth.
Suggested donations
Consider what an event might have spent on disposable dishware — and contribute a portion of those savings back to the Dish Project.
- Small event (20 people or less): $40
- Medium event (50 people): $80
- Large event (100 people): $100
Donations for off-campus events
All off-campus events require a donation. Please email a copy of the donation receipt to dishproject@concordia.ca.
Those with greater capacity to give are encouraged to donate generously. Lost or damaged items may incur replacement fees.
