Out-of-Province Undergraduate Indigenous Tuition Support
For First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples from communities across Canada outside Quebec
As part of Concordia University’s ongoing commitment to reconciliation, we are dedicated to expanding access to a Concordia education for Indigenous students from outside Quebec. The Out-of-Province Indigenous Tuition Support helps reduce the cost of tuition for eligible Indigenous students who relocate to Quebec to pursue their studies at Concordia.
Details
- Amount: $3,000 per academic year ($1,500 per fall and winter term)
- The funding is guaranteed to all students who meet the eligibility criteria.
- Funds will be awarded in December (for the fall term) and April (for the winter term), once the Quebec residency deadline has passed.
Eligibility
You must:
- be First Nations, Inuit or Métis peoples in Canada, of any academic background
an undergraduate applicant (bachelor's degree, certificate program, or Bridging Program – does not apply to microprograms and independent studies)
be enrolled at Concordia for full-time studies (minimum 12 credits per term)
be paying the tuition rate for out-of-province Canadian students (students who qualify for Quebec residency are not eligible)
provide valid proof of Indigenous identity

Important note: The Out-of-Province Indigenous Tuition Support was previously called the Canada Scholars Awards for Indigenous Students. Students who received the Canada Scholars Awards for Indigenous Students are not eligible to receive the Out-of-Province Indigenous Tuition Support, as it is the continuation of the same funding.
Quebec students
If you are a First Nations or Inuit student from a community in Quebec, you may be eligible for the Concordia Tuition Waiver for First Nations and Inuit Students. Students who receive the tuition waiver are not eligible to receive the Out-of-Province Indigenous Tuition Support.
Renewal
The funding will be awarded yearly for the normal duration of the degree if the student:
- has completed full-time studies in the previous academic year (minimum 12 credits per term)
- remains in acceptable academic standing
- will remain in full-time studies (minimum 12 credits per year) for the upcoming year (no gap years)
- has not obtained Quebec residency
To have their funding renewed, students must continuously meet the eligibility criteria. If a student fails to maintain the criteria once their studies are underway, they will lose eligibility for all subsequent terms.
