The ACM/AAAI Allen Newell Award is presented to an individual selected for career contributions that have breadth within computer science, or that bridge computer science and other disciplines. Key factors in evaluating nominations thus include both the quality of the contributions and their breadth across computer science – with contributions to artificial intelligence being of particular note – plus the significance of the bridges created to other disciplines.
