At Concordia, research impact is the change that research activities contribute to society and beyond — an ongoing process of engagement that can lead to academic, social, cultural, economic, environmental, or policy effects.

Impact is not a single kind of thing, and it does not always arrive quickly. Knowing which kind you are working toward, and over what horizon, is where planning starts.

Research doesn’t automatically become impact. Knowledge moves through systems — academic, social, political — and the path is rarely straight. Most researchers navigate it without a map.

Not a checklist — a starting place. Each pathway offers a different approach to creating real-world change from your research. Most researchers find more than one applies to them.

Impact support looks different at every stage. Pathways is built for all three moments in a research project, and meets you at the one you are in.
