Fall 2023

Congratulations on nearing the completion of your academic journey! Follow the steps below to graduate and complete your academic journey. Then celebrate at your convocation ceremony.

If you completed your studies in the summer 2023 term, you will convocate in the fall. NOTE: Fine Arts graduates are celebrated at only spring ceremonies.

1. Apply to graduate

Remember, all students must apply to graduate.

July 15, 2023, is the deadline to apply to graduate in fall 2023. To be eligible, you must complete all your program requirements by the end of the summer 2023 term. Late application will result in an additonal fee that must be paid in order to obtain your diploma.

Participating in convocation ceremonies is free of charge and voluntary, and requires an additional registration. A link to register will be sent to you via email once registration opens. The link will also be shared on this webpage

If you are a potential graduate, applying for a final exam deferral may delay your graduation. You can contact records.request@concordia.ca if you are a potential graduate and have questions about this.

You can apply to graduate online. You can also apply to graduate in the Student Hub's My CU Account page:

  • Scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you will find the 'Graduation' tile
  • Click on 'Graduate' or the “Submit your application” link
  • You will be asked to pay a fee of $45
  • Once you pay the fee, your application is submitted

2. Clear your account

Check your account and be sure to pay any outstanding fees, including library fees, before signing up to attend convocation ceremonies. See acceptable methods of payment.

3. Check your approval status

Your graduation approval status is posted in the CU Account page on the Student Hub.

Degrees are conferred twice a year at Concordia: In May for those who complete their studies in the fall or winter terms, and in October or November for those who complete their studies in the summer terms. After you have applied to graduate, you status will remain as pending until your degree is conferred. Degree conferral for fall 2023 graduates (ending in Summer) is November 3, 2023. Your degree conferral status will be added to your unofficial transcript the week of November 7th, at which point, “credential awarded” will appear, followed by the confer date.

Look for the credential awarded note on your unofficial transcript as of November 8, 2023. It will state “credential awarded” followed by the confer date.

For example, the confer date for fall 2023 graduates will be 03/11/2023, as displayed below:

Graduate Credential Summary
Credential Awarded:
Master of Engineering
Confer Date: 03/11/2023
Program/Plan: Master of Engineering
Electrical & Computer Engineering

Note that this may be in a different place on your unofficial transcript depending on whether you have done other studies at Concordia.

If you do not see the Credential Awarded message on the indicated date, please contact Enrolment Services at 514-848-2424, ext. 2668.

4. Apply for academic awards and medals

Non-academic medals and awards recognize great work and are awarded in the spring of every year to both fall and spring graduates. Go to the Medals & awards page.

5. Get ready for your convocation

Graduates wanting to participate in a convocation ceremony must go to the ceremony of their graduation term (ex: fall graduates attend the November 28 ceremony). Details on how to register will be available on the Fall 2023 webpage in October. You must sign-up by the deadline if you wish to participate. Ensure your email address in the Student Hub is correct, and watch for emails about convocation registration, gown distribution and acquiring your guest tickets.
