All-Girls Summer Engineering and Technology Program
July 2 – July 12, 2019
It’s not all applied math and science! Studying engineering and technology encourages creativity, innovation and leadership to make a difference in society.
This two-week program provides hands-on engineering experience for girls in grades 8 to 11 and first year of CEGEP. With design challenges, interactive labs and informative activities, GirlSET aims to encourage young women to pursue engineering as a career choice.
The program is divided into 10-15 sessions with a new topic and discipline each session, giving students a thorough glimpse of engineering as a discipline.
Participants will work in an all-girls environment and will be mentored by Concordia University’s most innovative engineering students and faculty members.
In addition to building critical problem-solving, analytical thinking and innovative design skills, students will learn about solar energy generation, computer game creation, biotechnology and software engineering, among many other topics.
The session topics include:
- Synthetic Biology and Engineering
- Bridge Building
- Colour Music Visualizer
