Brief Description of Duties and Expertise
The ideal candidate for the Research Associate position is expected to leverage their expertise in Civil/Building Engineering to address real-world challenges through innovative research and development in the areas of sustainability assessment, energy analysis, and relevant numerical modelling for modern and heritage buildings.
Key responsibilities include the following:
Research and Development
Conduct in-depth research on sustainability assessment, energy analysis, which includes (i) a state of the art review; (ii) development of relevant numerical models; and (iv) energy analysis and development sustainability metrics for buildings.
Publications and Presentations
Write and publish high-quality research articles in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
Meetings and Discussions
Attend and actively participate in regular research meetings, project discussions, and collaborative efforts to drive research progress and innovation.
The successful candidate should have a proven track record of high-quality research publications and presentations and a strong background in:
- Numerical modelling and energy analysis of buildings
- Building Information Modelling (BIM)
- Sustainability assessment of buildings
Experience in collaborating with academic and industrial partners, as well as mentoring students, is highly desirable.
Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential for this role.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. degree in Civil/Building Engineering, or equivalent, with specialization in some of the following areas: sustainability assessment, energy analysis, building information modelling, behaviour of structural systems, and project management.
- Experience with relevant software systems (e.g., ETABS, Revit, Energy plus, Dynamo etc.)
- Strong research capabilities and problem-solving
- A track record of peer-reviewed research
Principal Investigator and Supervisor
Salary Information
$32 per hour, 10 hours per week
