To mark Asian Heritage Month, seven Concordians share their wisdom and stories through our video montage.

Concordia takes pride in its diverse community and is actively working to create a more equitable and inclusive experience for all our students, faculty and staff through our Equity Office.

Meet the Concordians featured in our video

Alumni

Ian Selvarajah, BComm 07, is a senior manager in technology consulting at EY and recently founded a charity to promote diversity in leadership roles. He is also a generous donor to his alma mater.

Alan Wong, GrDip 02, PhD 13, is an English teacher at Montreal’s Vanier College and an anti-racism activist.

Faculty

Vivek Venkatesh, MA 03, PhD 08, is the UNESCO co-Chair in Prevention of Radicalization and Violent Extremism and professor of Inclusive Practices in Visual Arts in Concordia's Department of Art Education.

Jenny Lin, MFA 01, is a print media artist and part-time professor in Concordia’s Department of Studio Arts. She is the co-winner of the 2020 Prix Powerhouse and received a Distinguished Teaching Award in 2018.

Staff

Keum-Yeo Brochet is manager of marketing and recruitment for graduate programs at the John Molson School of Business and a self-described DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) enthusiast.

Nancy Wada, MA 01, is a 14-year veteran of Concordia’s University Advancement team. She currently serves as executive assistant to the vice-president.

Student

Riya Dutta, BEng 20, is a master’s student in the Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering and holds a leadership role at the Graduate Students’​ Association. She is a past president of Women and Engineering.
