Bradley Nelson named Concordia’s deputy provost and vice-provost, student life and experience

Concordia has appointed Bradley Nelson deputy provost and vice-provost, student life and experience, a new role within the Office of the Provost,
Reporting to the provost and vice-president, academic, Nelson will oversee the overall student experience at Concordia, and promote and provide strategic leadership in work-integrated and experiential learning.
As deputy provost, Nelson follows Nadia Hardy who held the role from 2019 to 2025.
"Brad brings a wealth of experience as a scholar, educator and administrator to the role as deputy provost and vice-provost, student life and experience,” says Faye Diamantoudi, interim provost and vice-president, academic.
“His long-standing commitment to academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration and student success makes him exceptionally well prepared for this work.”
Nelson has been a professor of Spanish at Concordia since 2000, specializing in early modern Spanish and Latin American literature and cultural history. He has twice served as the chair of the Department of Classics, Modern Languages and Linguistics, from 2005 to 2012, and again from 2022 until joining the Office of the Provost in fall 2025.
“It is a privilege to step into the role of deputy provost and vice-provost, student life and experience. I am eager to work with colleagues across the university to enhance our students’ university experience and help them achieve their goals,” says Nelson.

In addition to serving as chair of Classics, Modern Languages and Linguistics, Nelson has held the role of graduate program director of the Individualized Program, and served as associate dean of the School of Graduate Studies from 2013 to 2021, covering student affairs and postdoctoral studies as well as academic programs and development. In fall of 2024, he was the acting vice-dean in the Faculty of Arts and Science.
