This interactive, informative and practical workshop focuses on strategies to thrive. Participants will be introduced to mindfulness skills that have been shown to positively impact academic performance.

Mindfulness can help improve your ability to manage school-related stress, leading to enhanced cognitive flexibility, creativity, and problem-solving. It can also contribute to increased engagement, motivation, and enjoyment of learning, as well as the development of greater awareness and regulation of attention and focus, resulting in enhanced comprehension, memory retention and recall. Whether you're dealing with multiple-choice, essay, closed-book, or open-book exams, learn how to prepare strategically and progress systematically through the exam to optimize your success.

About Thriving and Learning in Action

Thriving & Learning in Action is based on the successful Thriving in Action (TiA) program developed by Dr. Diana Brecher and Dr. Deena Kara Shaffer at Toronto Metropolitain University.

Through a collaboration between Campus Wellness & Support Services and the Student Success Centre, TiA has been adapted for our students at Concordia through Thriving & Learning in Action.

Thriving and Learning in Action is a program like no other - it brings mental health, wellbeing, equity, and learning strategies together in a unique intervention that will help students feel more hopeful, resilient, and successful. Combining elements of positive psychology (e.g. building motivation, optimism, resilience, grit) and learning strategies (e.g. time management, effective studying and note taking), TiA aims to provide students with skills to help them thrive, academically and personally.

Thriving & Learning in Action will be offered as a flexible 5-part series, where students will learn new ways, approaches, and skills to build motivation, optimism, and resilience, along with learning strategy essentials like time management and effective studying.

These thriving and learning skills will help you to manage your stress, reduce procrastination, and become a successful learner.
