As the trend toward “reconciliation” continues throughout Canada, universities are asking what that may look like, and how Indigenous Peoples voices and knowledge systems can be brought into the classroom. This session will introduce participants to Indigenous scholars, knowledge keepers, and community members who have carved the path forward from a place of being Onkwehón:we (Indigenous/Real People). By being familiarized with the works of different Indigenous Peoples from around the world, participants may begin to see the vast amount of knowledge that has been put forward in both academic and community settings. This knowledge can then be brought into the classroom by faculty, in order for that knowledge to reach a broader audience and allow for current and future Indigenous students to bring their own voices forward in their academic journeys.

Format: Workshop
