The panel will focus on how interdisciplinary practice between science and the arts can strengthen creativity and ingenuity between practices.
Khadija Baker is an independent artist and alumnus of Concordia's MFA and PhD programs. Among many accolades, Khadija is a winner of the 2023 David Suzuki Foundation Rewilding Arts Prize.
Emma Despland is Professor in the Department of Biology at Concordia University. She researches plant-insect interactions.
Helen Gregory is Curator at the McIntosh Gallery at Western University. Helen curated the 2023 David Suzuki Foundation Rewilding Arts Prize exhibit.
Natasha Lavdovsky is an interdisciplinary artist who holds a bachelor's degree from Princeton University (2009) where she studied art and science, and an MFA in Studio Art from Concordia University (2023). Natasha is a winner of the David Suzuki Rewilding Arts Prize (2023)."
Sylvia Rack is an emerging artist working between Montreal and Boynton, Quebec, with an interest in the microcosm of specialized plant/insect relationships. She is currently completing an MFA in Studio Arts at Concordia University.
Mathilde Tissier is a researcher from the Centre nationale de la recherche scientifique (CNRS), France, and UQAM. She works on interdisciplinary approach to soil plant animal interactions.
This event is brought to you by the Loyola College for Diversity and Sustainability, the Loyola Sustainability Research Centre, and the Department of Design and Computation Arts in collaboration with 4TH SPACE, with the support of the Office of the Vice-President, Research, Innovation and Impact; the School of Community and Public Affairs and First Peoples Studies; the Science College; and the Departments of Communication Studies; Geography, Planning and Environment; and Political Science at Concordia University.
This event will contribute to the Sustainability in Research section of Concordia's Sustainability Action Plan by increasing the visibility of sustainability research at Concordia.
