Both lecture series honour Professor Henry Habib who founded the Department of Political Science in 1961 at Loyola College, one of Concordia’s founding institutions. He was Chair of the Department for sixteen years. Habib has since remained dedicated to his students, encouraging them to learn and think critically about the important issues facing Canadian and international politics. He was promoted to Distinguished Emeritus Professor in 1999.

Established in 2026, the Henry Habib Speaker Series on Applied Diplomacy features speakers who provide insights into the inner workings of diplomacy. Events welcome Concordia students and faculty as well as scholars from other institutions and the community at large. It showcases the Diplomacy Accelerator’s expertise and offer exceptional opportunities for engagement.
