If you're seeking to engage with current events and take part in major social issues, such as communication in times of crisis, the expansion of user-generated content and questions of identity expression, this program is for you. The explosion of digital content and rapid advances in AI technologies have revolutionized the practice of translation. Whether it's called post-editing, localization, adaptation or transcreation, translation remains at the heart of intercultural communications.

This program will allow you to develop highly sought-after skills like adaptability and agility, critical thinking and the ability to understand and analyze information. You will become proficient in specialized technologies like translation memories and neural translation tools like Google Translate and DeepL. You will learn to use generative AI tools rigorously and professionally. And you will develop high-level research and language consulting skills. You’ll also have the opportunity to carry out experiential learning activities and do an internship in the workplace or with our community partners.

Passionate about language and culture? To succeed as a translator, you must first have excellent skills in both French and English. We will help you expand your cultural knowledge, improve your grasp of the language you are translating into and deepen your understanding of the language you are translating from.

You must choose one of two tracks: translation from French to English or from English to French. In addition to courses in general and specialized translation, such as business and legal translation or audiovisual translation, you will take courses in language, linguistics and literature to sharpen your skills and acquire a high level of proficiency in reading and writing.

Our program is officially recognized by the Canadian  Association of Schools of Translation (CAST). The Specialization in Translation includes a mandatory internship and leads to certification by the Ordre des traducteurs, terminologues et interprètes agréés du Québec (OTTIAQ).
