Job and internship opportunities
The Canadian government offers programs for student recruitment or employment following graduation that require an academic background in economics, as well as some private sector opportunities.
Helpful tips
- Set up alerts with the government agencies and private sector firms you are interested in. This will help you keep track of the offers available based on the criteria you choose. For example: jobs.gc.ca and Placement Québec.
- Register to the Federal Student Work Experience Program (FSWEP) if you are interested in summer student jobs with the Government of Canada.
- Platform trouveunstage.com allows you to create a candidate profile and to search various internships. Pour le moment, la plate-forme est disponible en français seulement.
- Search opportunities through LinkedIn.
- General advice: Many resources through Career Advising and Professional Success.
- Co-Op students: participate in the activities and events offered by the Institute for Co-operative Education. This makes the whole process much easier than looking for internships by yourself.
- PhD students: if you are looking for a job in academia, consult the Economics Job Market (EJM) and the JOE listings regularly.
- Recent alumni: Access to Concordia's Alumni Career Services, which includes a mentoring platform, networking events and career planning services.
