Transfer credits
New students
Newly-admitted students may be entitled to transfer credits or exemptions at Concordia University. See the complete instructions on the Transfer Credit Exemption form.
Current students
External Credit: Within Quebec
Students who wish to take courses at other recognized institutions in Quebec and want those credits transferred to Concordia University must receive prior permission by using the Interuniversity Agreement (INTU) form from the Conference of Rectors and Principals of Quebec Universities (CREPUQ).
Credits and grades received are transferred to the student's Concordia record once an official transcript is received from the host institution. This application is only available online.
Go to the Authorization to Transfer Credit online form on the CREPUQ website.
External Credit: Outside Quebec
Before you take the course
Students who wish to take courses outside the Province of Quebec and have those credits transferred to their program must receive prior permission.
- Complete a Student Request Form
- Submit to SAS all relevant information on the course(s) and University they wish to attend ie:
- accreditation information
- credit value
- course description
- credit hours
- SAS will evaluate your request and forward it to the Undergraduate Program Director.
After you take the course
You must receive a minimum grade of C- in order to transfer back the credits to your program at Concordia.
Your grades for the courses taken outside Concordia will not be considered in the calculation of your GPA.
If the course you take doesn’t have the same number of credits as its equivalent course at Concordia University, the number of credits transferred back to your BEng program is the lower of the two equivalent courses. You may need to take an extra elective course upon your return to make up the missing credits.
All requests must be made prior to registration at the host institution.
Note: The School does not guarantee that credits taken elsewhere will be transferred and counted toward their degree if the student did not receive prior permission.
In order to be eligible, students must be in good academic standing with the School.
