Aspiring scientists take note — the Concordia Institute of Aerospace Design and Innovation (CIADI) Science and Engineering Summer Camp returns for its second year this July.

The two month-long program offers children aged 6 to 13 a chance to explore Concordia’s wealth of STEM labs. Throughout the summer, students and faculty members from across the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science will serve as mentors for the young campers.

Nadia Bhuiyan is the program’s founder and Concordia’s vice-provost of Partnerships and Experiential Learning.

"The goal is to create an enriched camp where kids can learn about science and engineering," says Bhuiyan, professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering and director of education for CIADI.

"We have a wealth of resources at our fingertips."

“Our faculty, staff and students generously contribute by showing participants the projects they are working on, doing demonstrations and offering tours of their labs.”

Bhuiyan adds that the Let's Talk Science program contributes significantly to the camp by offering materials, experiments and counsellor training.

Campers will benefit from science and engineering workshops, short field trips to local venues including the Canadian Space Agency and the Cosmodôme, and outdoor play.

“We often hear from kids and parents that this was the best camp they had ever attended!"

This year’s camp runs from July 3 to August 25, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Extended care service is also offered from 8 to 9 a.m. and 5 to 6 p.m.

Full program and registration details are available online.
