John Molson School Dean’s Awards celebrate excellence in teaching, research, academic service and staff contribution

On December 4, the John Molson School of Business held its annual Dean’s Awards. More than 130 faculty and staff, as well as members of the John Molson School Advisory Board, gathered to honour winners in the areas of teaching, research, academic service and staff contribution.

“Our community contributes to our success and is the reason we continue to achieve excellence,” says Anne-Marie Croteau, dean of the John Molson School of Business. 

"As we celebrate 25 years of the naming of the John Molson School of Business, I am proud of what the School has accomplished thanks to the commitment and dedication of our staff and faculty. It’s my privilege to celebrate our winners today."

Mahdi Mirhoseini, assistant professor, Department of Supply Chain and Business Technology Management

The nomination letter highlighted his consistently positive student feedback. Students appreciate his ability to make complex material accessible and his supportive approach to addressing diverse learning needs. In addition, his integration of real-world case studies and guest speakers into his courses has had a demonstrable impact on his students’ understanding of industry dynamics.

Distinguished Scholarship: Emerging Scholar Award
Arman Sadreddin, assistant professor, Department of Supply Chain and Business Technology Management

Sadreddin’s research interests focus on digital entrepreneurship, digital innovation, technology-enabled organizational capabilities and entrepreneurial ecosystems. He is also the director of John Molson Perspectives, a platform to share practical, relevant, and impactful knowledge created by the John Molson School of Business community.

The nomination letters highlighted his impressive publishing record, his course development, his excellent teaching, and his research collaborations both inside and outside Concordia.

Distinguished Scholarship: Mid-Career Scholar Award
Pierre-Yann Dolbec, associate professor, Department of Marketing

In his research, Dolbec examines how consumers and organizations navigate market complexity— the tensions between technologies, norms, and stakeholder expectations that structure markets.

The nomination letters highlighted his research productivity and innovation.

Zeynep Arsel, winner, Dean's Award for Distinguished Scholarship: Established Scholar
Distinguished Scholarship: Established Scholar Award
Zeynep Arsel, professor, Department of Marketing

Arsel's current research explores three separate streams: 1) How markets are shaped by knowledge systems, 2) The intersection of technology, consumption, and markets, and 3) Consumption in relational contexts.

The nomination letters highlighted her exemplary research record, her media exposure, and her many citations.

Eva Lagou, full-time lecturer, Department of Accountancy

The nomination letters noted Lagou’s significant contributions as CPA program director for the past nine years. The nominators highlighted her contributions towards strengthening the reputation of the John Molson CPA program and her contributions to the profession as a whole. They also cited her involvement outside John Molson, notably as university delegate on the Comité de la formation des CPA du Québec by the Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI), as member of the CPA Québec comité d'enquête à l'éthique et à la déontologie (Committee of inquiry in ethics and professional conduct), and as board member of the ENGCOMM Case Competition.

The nomination letters emphasized Mennella's deep commitment to the School's success. The nominators specifically highlighted her collaborative spirit, leadership, professionalism and resourcefulness.
