Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) can be a useful and effective mode of assessment when used appropriately – both for lower-order and higher-order learning outcomes. However, MCQs need to follow certain question design best practices to be effective. In this interactive presentation, participants will learn about the anatomy of an MCQ and design best practices for MCQs implemented in paper-based and online assessments. In the session, participants will also discuss how to work with question banks and ways to address issues of reliability and validity of MCQs.
