Book Launch: Greg Nielsen's Media Sociology and Journalism

Join us for the launch of Professor Greg Nielsen’s new book, Media Sociology and Journalism: Studies in Truth and Democracy (London, Anthem Press: 2023).

Investigating the state of journalism in the post-truth era, the book explores how professional journalism renders democracy fragile when it reports on the most vulnerable subjects in society but does not address them as the imagined audience. It seeks a way forward through a dialogical critique of divisions in news media, politics, and contemporary sociological theory.

To celebrate the book’s launch, we will be having a roundtable panel, followed by discussion, featuring:
