Climate action at Concordia

In November 2020, Concordia launched its first-event Sustainability Action Plan. The five-year Plan was developed over a period of two years with the participation of students, faculty, and staff, and represents an ambitious new vision for sustainability at Concordia. Through its five stream topics of Food, Waste, Climate Change, Research, and Curriculum, the plan will contribute significantly to Concordia’s newly-committed efforts to address the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Following the initial launch event, we are offering our community members the opportunity to learn more about each of the stream topics through Q&A panel events dedicated to Climate, Food, Waste, Research, and Curriculum.

The first event of this series is part of the programming for the Sustainability and the Climate Crisis conference. This event focuses on the Climate Action Plan, which presents an ambitious vision for how we can reduce Concordia’s greenhouse gas emissions and increase the sustainability of our campus and operations.

Join Damon Matthews, Amr Addas, and Dan Gauthier as they discuss the Climate Action Plan and its implications for Concordia in a live Q&A event. There will be no formal presentation or introduction, so we invite you to familiarize yourself with the Climate Action Plan and come prepared with your questions for our panellists!

Damon Matthews, Professor and Concordia Research Chair in Climate Science and Sustainability, Geography, Planning and Environment (Climate Action Plan Committee Chair)

Amr Addas, Adjunct Professor, Finance (Climate Action Plan Committee Member)

Cassandra Lamontagne, Sustainability Coordinator, Office of Sustainability (Climate Action Plan Committee Coordinator)
