Yoga teacher certification program

You are already aware of the life-changing benefits of yoga, now it’s your turn to share them with others as a registered yoga teacher.

Overview

This program is open to everyone – all are welcome to apply! Classes are held on Loyola Campus. Register by August 1 to join us on this life changing journey!

As a participant in our comprehensive YTT200 training, in addition to yoga teacher certification eligibility, you will:

  • Master time-tested tools to effectively manage stress and foster physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being
  • Deepen your understanding of body, breath, and awareness-based practices to enhance personal health and build resilience
  • Learn the fundamentals of a yoga lifestyle emphasizing self-care and holistic well-being
  • Develop professional teaching skills with renowned and highly experienced teachers
  • Make yogic principles and practices relevant in everyday life
  • Join a supportive community of like-minded peers and build lasting connections

Barrie Risman, E-RYT-500

An internationally-acclaimed yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and author of "Evolving Your Yoga: Ten Principles for Enlightened Practice." With over two decades of teaching experience and extensive knowledge of alignment-based Hatha Yoga and applied yoga philosophy, Barrie has been training and mentoring yoga teachers since 2007 and serves on teacher-training faculties in the US, Canada, and the UK.

Anne Archambault, E-RYT-500

A Concordia part-time faculty member with over 30 years of experience in leading personal growth and wellness programs. Anne specializes in training recreation therapists and adaptive yoga, blending yoga with innovative group facilitation techniques.

Program structure

Our hybrid program combines in-person and online learning components (165 in-person hours, 35 online hours) designed to fit within the academic year.

  • 14 Zoom sessions, every second Tuesday evening

Program highlights

  • Postural Practice and techniques: Biomechanical principles of functional movement and adaptations for over 100 yoga postures and their variations
  • Anatomy and Physiology: Basic anatomy and physiology, mind-body connection, safe and healthy movement, injury prevention, and system-specific insights
  • Pranayama and Meditation: Techniques for breathwork and mindfulness
  • Teaching Methodology: Sequencing, cueing, classroom management, ethics, and business of yoga
  • Hands-on experience: Practice teaching with individualized feedback and mentoring
  • Philosophy: History of yoga, wisdom teachings from the major texts of the yoga tradition, Yogic principles, Energy body, and Hatha Yoga tradition

Registration

Registration deadline: Aug. 1, 2025

Payment information will be sent to you by email after registration.

Program requires a minimum of 14 participants to run, with a maximum capacity of 30.

Standard and early registration paid in two instalments:

  • First payment due at registration 
  • Second payment due by Aug. 25, 2025

If a refund request is made by Aug. 30, 2025, a 50% refund will be provided. No refund will be provided after that time.
