This program is open to everyone – all are welcome to apply! Classes are held on Loyola Campus. Register by August 1 to join us on this life changing journey!

As a participant in our comprehensive training, in addition to yoga teacher certification eligibility, you will:

Barrie Risman, E-RYT-500

An internationally-acclaimed yoga teacher, teacher trainer, and author of "Evolving Your Yoga: Ten Principles for Enlightened Practice." With over two decades of teaching experience and extensive knowledge of alignment-based Hatha Yoga and applied yoga philosophy, Barrie has been training and mentoring yoga teachers since 2007 and serves on teacher-training faculties in the US, Canada, and the UK.

Trauma-informed Teaching

A Concordia part-time faculty member with over 30 years of experience in leading personal growth and wellness programs. Anne specializes in training recreation therapists and adaptive yoga, blending yoga with innovative group facilitation techniques.

BetsyAnn Baron
Yoga and Myofascial Awareness

BetsyAnn Baron is a respected bodyworker and educator with a background as a professional ballet dancer. Founder of Structural Myofascial Therapy (SMFT)®, she has taught internationally for over two decades, bringing myofascial anatomy, postural awareness, and fascia-based insight into yoga asana and embodied practice.

Colleen Jorgensen, D.O., RYT®200, GSY-P1

Colleen is known for blending science and movement in a unique, playful way. She is an Osteopath, Athletic Therapist, Pain Care Aware Lead Trainer, Somatic Stress Release Practitioner and a Pilates, yoga, and Gentle Somatic Yoga teacher. Her 30 years teaching embodied anatomy inspire curiosity, resilience and continued exploration.

Sowparnika Balaswaminathan, PhD
History of Yoga

Sowparnika Balaswaminathan is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Religions and Cultures at Concordia University. She is an anthropologist of museums, art and aesthetics, and religion. Her upcoming monograph is an ethnographic study of the contemporary aesthetic labor practices of the South Indian bronzecasting community in Swamimalai, Tamilnadu, India. At Concordia, she teaches on Hinduism, South and Southeast Asian art, Yoga, Heritage, and Caste.

Program structure

Our hybrid program combines in-person and online learning components (165 in-person hours, 35 online hours) designed to fit within the academic year.

  • 11 Zoom sessions on Tuesday evenings (dates to be announced)

5-day intensives (Wednesday to Sunday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.)

9 weekend sessions (Saturday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. & Sunday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.):

Program highlights

  • Postural Practice and techniques: Biomechanical principles of functional movement and adaptations for over 100 yoga postures and their variations
  • Anatomy and Physiology: Basic anatomy and physiology, mind-body connection, safe and healthy movement, injury prevention, and system-specific insights
  • Pranayama and Meditation: Techniques for breathwork and mindfulness
  • Teaching Methodology: Sequencing, cueing, classroom management, ethics, and business of yoga
  • Hands-on experience: Practice teaching with individualized feedback and mentoring
  • Philosophy: History of yoga, wisdom teachings from the major texts of the yoga tradition, Yogic principles, Energy body, and Hatha Yoga tradition

Registration

Registration starts: March 16.

Payment information will be sent to you by email following receipt of your application and a short interview. 

Program requires a minimum of 14 participants to run, with a maximum capacity of 30.

Standard and early registration paid in two instalments:

  • First payment due at registration 
  • Second payment due by September 1, 2026

If a refund request is made by Aug. 30, 2026, a 50% refund will be provided. No refund will be provided after that time.
