Chalet de la plage Jean Doré Beach House

This building, built in 1990, was designed to accommodate visitors to a beach located within Parc Jean-Drapeau. The team assessed the substructure shell and inside of the two-story building, as it is currently not used and in need of repairs.

The team looked at three major elements:

  • the substructure
  • the interiors
  • the shell of the building

The students were divided into three assessment groups of two, based on the background of the team members. The team recommends the following, based on factors such as the failure risk, the investment strategy or the required level of service:

  • to replace marginal and poor assets
  • to improve the inspection procedure
  • to monitor the building's capacity
  • to select sustainable alternatives

Facility Condition Assessment of the Canada Pavilion

This building was initially built from Sept. 1966 to Jan. 1967, with extensions and alterations that followed in the next five decades.

The team looked at the building's shell, interior and plumbing. They noted the challenges and benefits of the approach they picked and organized the assets based on their condition, ranging from good, to adequate and marginal. From there, the team made maintenance recommendations, either preventive-based or corrective-based, with an investment strategy in mind.
