Calling all survey creators! Qualtrics is now available to the Concordia community as a pilot until August 14, 2023.

For nearly a decade, LimeSurvey has been the main institutional survey solution at Concordia. Now the university has begun searching for a more modern and robust survey solution with stronger support.

While LimeSurvey will remain operational until the new solution is in place, a free short-term institutional pilot license for Qualtrics is now available to all faculty, staff and students. This pilot is being launched to address the needs of the community until the acquisition of a long-term solution.

Given that the institutional license will expire on August 14, it’s important to note that surveys expected to extend beyond the licensing end date will need to be manually migrated to Concordia’s future long-term survey solution.

This pilot license will have no impact on the John Molson School of Business’s Qualtrics license, and John Molson Qualtrics users should continue to use the business school’s license.

What is Qualtrics?

Qualtrics is a professional cloud-based survey tool that allows users to build and distribute surveys while generating powerful reports for analysis. The cloud solution meets all tri-agency research data-management policy requirements, including data storage on servers located in Canada.

The solution itself is already widely in use at Concordia and has multiple applications for market research, customer satisfaction, customer loyalty, product testing and concept testing, among others.

It’s a valuable option when collecting, filtering and processing large amounts of data for medium and large survey groups and allows for extensive analysis with files that export to Microsoft Excel. The platform provides full control over who can fill in a survey or form and how many times, with full anonymity.

While any new system comes with an initial learning curve, Qualtrics offers a comprehensive list of free courses and live webinars through its XM Basecamp site. Plus, the XM Community support service is available to connect and collaborate with other users as well as to request official support.

MS Forms is also freely available to the Concordia community and is a great option for a basic, easy-to-use survey tool.
