The arrival of COVID-19 rapidly altered how Conordia's professors delivered their courses during the spring term. With little more than a moment's notice, classrooms were emptied and classes went digital.

Shahin Karimi, lecturer and graduate program director from the Department of Building, Civil and Environmental Engineering at Concordia, experienced the transition first-hand and has since come to embrace the online medium.

"This summer I'm teaching one of my favourite courses: Principles of Engineering Management and Economics," he notes. "I often use funny, short videos and interesting pictures to better help students understand the concepts of the course."

Karimi has also discovered that student participation is alive and well in this new learning environment.

"Although, I'm teaching online, I love the interaction that exists in my classes. I look forward to meeting my students online."
