CSLP member Mitch McLarnon, professor in the Department of Education at Concordia University, is co-editing a special bilingual (French/English) issue of the Canadian Journal for the Study of Adult Education (CJSAE), alongside Jean-Pierre Mercier, professor in the Département d’éducation et formation spécialisées at the Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM). The issue, slated for publication in Spring 2027, invites critical contributions that explore the intersections of adult education, social movements, popular education, and community-based organizing during a time of rising authoritarianism and intersecting global crises.
The editors seek submissions that are grounded in engaged and activist scholarship, with a focus on social and environmental justice, emancipation, care, and regeneration. Articles may be empirical, theoretical, reflective, or creative, and are especially welcome if they draw on Black, Indigenous, feminist, queer, disability, anti-colonial, rural, or diasporic perspectives.
Key deadlines include:
- August 29, 2025: Abstract submissions due
- October 2025: Notifications sent to invited authors
- May 1, 2026: Full manuscripts due
- December 15, 2026: Final papers submitted
Book reviews aligned with the special issue’s themes are also welcome. Interested reviewers should contact Sara Carpenter at sara3@ualberta.ca by October 31, 2025.
