"This workshop aims to lessen the experience of information overload by focusing on the information search process from a holistic perspective.

Some of the techniques and strategies that will be explored include making connections and identifying gaps in your current research, use of search operators, search techniques like citation searching and bibliometric tools, and browsable resources at Concordia like BrowZine and Sofia. We will also discuss ways of managing information overload such as research logs, search alerts, and literature matrices.

Learning Objectives

1. Reflect on your search process as a whole and identify areas that could be improved
2. Be intentional in selecting effective search strategies for different stages of the research process
3. Identify tools that will help manage the information you’ve found
4. Incorporate awareness of your physical body and emotions during the search process
