Get your SIN at the ISO

We are happy to announce that Service Canada will be at the ISO on Monday, January 15, 2024. International students are welcome to come by to get or renew their Social Insurance Number (SIN).

New students: If you have recently arrived in Canada and would like to drop by and get your SIN, you will need to bring the following original documents:

• Your study permit*
• Your passport

Returning students or new holders of a post-graduation work permit (PGWP): If you would like to extend/renew your SIN (for example, if you recently received your PGWP or have extended your study permit), you will need:

• Your study permit* or PGWP
• Your passport
• Your original SIN document

All documents must be originals, no photocopies or scans.

*Please note: your study permit must mention: Student may accept employment on or off-campus if meeting eligibility criteria as per R186 (f), (v) or (w) in order for you to get your SIN. If it does not, please meet with your ISO advisor to find out how to request a study permit amendment.

If this date doesn’t work for you, you can apply online to renew your SIN or go to a Service Canada location.
