Hosted by wellness counsellor Myrlie Marcelin and guests, this event series will focus on the mental health impacts of anti-Black racism. Participants will gain a stronger understanding of a wide range issues faced by the Black community from systemic racism and oppression and structural barriers, through the lived experience of Black Canadians and Americans.
Participants will learn to recognize the significant mental health implications of racism, policing, wealth, identity, trauma, and discrimination for people of colour. They'll also learn about the importance of developing a secure and healthy integration of racial and cultural identities, and get strategies to identify and advocate against anti-Black racism in their communities.
These workshops are open for anyone, whether they want to better understand or share their own experiences, or want to become a better ally for others.
