Professor Adelle Blackett will address the promise of the historic Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Higher Education to catalyze change. She will reflect on the perils of the current moment, including backlash faced by “equity-deserving” groups. The Scarborough Charter is at once an archive of community aspirations as converged in the current moment of racial reckoning, and a map for moving forward. But what conditions can make that journey transformative, including in Québec?
