Join queer, sober yoga teacher Emilie B (she/her) in a 60-minute mindful movement practice for recovery. We'll explore gentle yoga postures, breathing techniques and meditation in a non-judgemental space to encourage a deeper connection with the mind, the body and the breath.

Designed to be trauma-informed, body-neutral and open to people of varying fitness levels, this class is not about sweating and working out but turning inward to find and develop tools that encourage emotional regulation, breath-connection, and body/mind awareness. In Emilie's classes, you can expect a healthy balance of silliness, self-reflection, cynicism, tranquility and dad puns.

What to expect of the 60 minutes

  • 3-5 mins: Mini intro & check-in
  • 5-10 mins: Initial relaxation/grounding & breathing exercises
  • 10-15 mins: Slow warm-up movements on the back, hands & knees and/or seated
  • 15-20 mins: Gentle mindful movements to strengthen, balance, stretch and create focus
  • 5-10 mins: Cool down & final relaxation
  • 3-5 mins: Closing & check-out / Questions

About Emilie B

Emilie (she/her) has been teaching mindful movement in the form of yoga and fitness for over 9 years and has certifications in more than 8 different styles of yoga and personal training. Emilie originally turned to yoga as a way to cope with severe anxiety as a teenager and used her understanding of the practice as a tool to support her during her path towards sobriety 5 years ago.

Jaded by the toxicity of the "#goodvibesonly" mentality found in the mainstream wellness industry, Emilie's approach to mindful movement is one that intends to be as inclusive, accessible and body-neutral as possible. Emilie's classes reflect her training in trauma-informed practices, active listening and harm reduction and her own experience with mental health and addiction. Tossing out shame, classism and the "pull-yourself-up-from-your-bootstraps" mentality, Emilie aims to create a safe(r) space for people to move, self-reflect and develop a deeper connection with themselves.
