Concordia Photography Collective, "Hereafter," in collaboration with Quartier des Spectacles.
In collaboration with Quartier des Spectacles, the Concordia Photography Collective is exhibiting a video piece compiled with 52 brilliant student artists, projected in a large-scale public art installation outside the Saint-Laurent metro station.
From May 7 to 30, in the evenings between 8 and 9:30 p.m., join us outside the metro exit to view our video piece. Thanks to Quartier des Spectacles, this project is part of a larger celebration of students, featured alongside more installations throughout the city showcasing student work from other Montreal universities.
The Concordia Photography Collective invited fine art students to submit image-based and video-based artwork to be incorporated into a larger video montage piece. The project, titled "Hereafter," intends to seek relationships between different artist’s work, including different images and videos in the same frames – overlaps, diptychs, etc. – to find new meanings. We challenged artists to think about collectivity as a process to envision an empathetic future. "Hereafter" prompts students and the public to consider ideas of community, performance, longing, representation, relationships, purpose or possibility.
