How does radiation affect the electronics used in spacecraft, aircraft and critical systems on Earth? Join SERESSA 2026 at Concordia from November 23 to 27 to explore these effects and learn techniques to make embedded systems more resilient.

This five-day school brings together researchers, engineers and graduate students with experts from academia, government and industry. Lectures, exercises and demonstrations draw on real case studies and tools used in the field.

Beyond space and aviation, the school addresses radiation effects in ground-level applications, including automotive systems, high-energy facilities, medical technology and banking.

Topics include:

  • Space environments and spacecraft anomalies

  • Single-event effects and total dose effects

  • Architecture and software hardening

  • Single-event effects in field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs)

  • Error rate prediction and radiation hardness assurance

  • Radiation facilities

SERESSA 2026 is organized by Concordia University, through the Gina Cody School of Engineering and Computer Science and the Mark Pathy Space Institute, together with CY Cergy Paris Université. It is supported by ETIS Laboratory, ReSMiQ and the Hardware Verification Group at Concordia.

Share your research

PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and engineers are invited to submit poster abstracts on radiation effects in embedded systems for space and ground-level critical applications. The poster session offers an opportunity to share ongoing work and discuss results with experts in the field.

Submit your poster abstract by October 10. Applicants will be notified of acceptance by October 17.
