A devised work facilitated by Shana Carroll

“To be truly global you must be deeply personal”

- Claude Lelouch

Obsession is passion that doesn’t come up for air. It combines love with need, interest with urgency. As creators we search for inspiration, for a source of passion so strong it serves as muse and compass. And there is nothing quite like the insatiable appetite and tireless motor of the obsessive mind.

This course reflects on the nature of obsession itself, how it is alternately a balm, a torment, a refuge, a desire, a mission, a crutch, a goal, a lesson begging to be learned. How can we tap into these obsessions and burn them as creative fuel? How can we access the global through the deeply, obsessively personal?

This public outcome seeks to immerse the audience in the actors’ obsessive minds, and to witness the various fits and starts of obsession-fueled creation.

Please note: this performance will involve a mild level of audience interaction, including movement and possible light touch. We will have identifying wrist bands for those who do no wish to be touched and/or wish to remain seated throughout.
