This workshop will be an introduction to current fundaments related to the usage of technical equipment and key safety measures to access the Acts of Listening Lab space. The focus will be to go over specific tasks with a hands-on approach. Progressions from sound and lights to video will be discussed. This workshop will have a practical component; registrants are asked to bring something to take notes on.
Objectives:
To be able to utilize the resources and tools the Acts of Listening Lab has to offer.
Maintain a safe, conscious, and responsible environment within the ALLab.
Understand a progression of on-going learning curves, practice exercises to continue discovering the world of technology in a lab hub for research-creation.
BIO
Valentina Plata is a sound artist, singer, and composer. An Electroacoustic student specializing in Creative Practices at Concordia University, Valentina explores themes such as lightness, vulnerability, and freedom. Growing up between Cancún, California, and Bogotá, Valentina now resides in Montreal and currently works as a research assistant with The Acts of Listening Lab and RISE Opera. Valentina is also an active volunteer for OPTIMISTA - Yellow Pad Sessions.
